We at Neo hereby declares ”MISSION THERMOCOL” through which we will find out an alternative for the usage of thermocol in film productions and visual designs within 90 days and the countdown begins today, 5th JUNE 2018, WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY.
HAZARDS OF THERMOCOL
Like plaster of Paris, thermocol has its own hazard. The convenience of this material has made us habitual and we can’t resist them. But the time has come to realize the bad effects of these material this saving our health and environment. Banning of polythenes or polythenes bag are always talked about but the thermocol which is a byproduct of polythene is not banned.
Thermoplastic compound in the thermocol is obtained by the polymerization of polythene. These are very light weight which floats on water and are non-biodegradable.
The hazards of thermocols are:
- They don’t decompose in the soil, thus make soil infertile.
- It releases poisonous gases on burning, which can cause respiratory problems, or even death, when inhaled.
- Tons of thermocol goes in water, being light in weight they cause marine debris.
A contest for film Students, Lighting technicians, Art Directors (Since consumption of thermocol in film industry, Art and design industry is highly alarming)
We understand it’s been used in other areas too, including student projects and we plan to move on to those territories after clearing the hazards from film Industry.
This mission is launched by NEO MEDIA TRUST in Association with NEO FILM SCHOOL.
